A must see when in Hobart! We will always remember this place because we bought a jacket with the logo of the museum :-)

The museum is a good place to explore some of Tasmania's maritime history. Both past and more recent history are represented, although the general focus is skewed more towards Tasmania's colonial past. The entry fee was $10 per adult, which seemed a bit steep, but it's a volunteer museum with little funding so it can be justified.

While this museum is rather small, it’s fantastic. Very informative and gives a great lesson on Tasmania’s maritime history. It’s well laid out with the displays in a chronological order so it’s easy to follow along. Children from about 10 and up would enjoy this museum, and most adults would too. I’m not particularly interested in maritime and boat related things but I enjoyed myself regardless.

A good place to visit while you’re in cbd. Many exhibitions ranged a long time of history.
